SMART II – Program Eligibility

 

The recent funding announcement includes a $15.75-million investment under the Southern Ontario Development Program for the Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CME) SMART program to fund approximately 300 projects.

The applicants are being selected from the original applications that were submitted and approved by industry experts when the SMART I Program ran out of funding.

SMART II staff will be calling applicants that were approved by from November 9 – November 20, 2009 at which time all applications will be re-qualified for funding based upon the SMART II Program Guidelines as set out below. 

1. Eligible applicants

Your application will be considered for funding if:

·      Your original project was ranked and approved by Industry Experts in July 2009

Ø  SMART II is NOT accepting new or amended projects

·      Your original project has NOT changed from its original application

·      Your original project has NOT incurred more than 50% of project costs as of September 17, 2009

Ø  This includes capital equipment or software invoiced and/or delivered before September 17, 2009.

Ø  In SMART II, purchase orders are NOT considered incurred costs

·      Your original project will be complete on or before March 31, 2010

·      Your company is located in Southern Ontario

Southern Ontario is defined as including the following 2006 Statistic Canada Census Divisions:

1 Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry; 2 Prescott and Russell; 6 Ottawa; 7 Leeds and Grenville; 9 Lanark; 10 Frontenac; 11 Lennox and Addington; 12 Hastings; 13 Prince Edward; 14 Northumberland; 15 Peterborough; 16 Kawartha Lakes; 18 Durham; 19 York; 20 Toronto; 21 Peel; 22 Dufferin; 23 Wellington; 24 Halton; 25 Hamilton; 26 Niagara; 28 Haldimand-Norfolk; 29 Brant; 30 Waterloo; 31 Perth; 32 Oxford; 34 Elgin; 36 Chatham-Kent; 37 Essex; 38 Lambton; 39 Middlesex; 40 Huron; 41 Bruce; 42 Grey; 43 Simcoe; 46 Haliburton; and 47 Renfrew.
