When your project is selected for SMART Funding, you will receive both electronic (e-mail) and written notification. (That will be the Notification Date for contract purposes.) Our contract requires that you start your project within 2 months of the Notification Date and finish the project within 6 months of that Date. During this period, you will have access to an online Project Progress Form where you can update us on the completion of individual project tasks and milestones. Most importantly, you will use this form to indicate when the whole project is complete. We’ll be keeping track of whether individual tasks are falling behind schedule – and whether the whole project is finished on time. If not, you should be prepared to hear from CME and/or from your Reference and to provide an update on any problems you may be encountering.
While the Project is underway, be sure to keep detailed records of the expenses you plan on submitting to the SMART Program. (Click here for a description of eligible and ineligible project costs.) These records are subject to audit by both CME’s and the Government of Ontario’s auditors. In addition, on a random basis, CME will ask recipients to forward copies of these documents as part of their Expense Claim.
