Update: April 19, 2018
The SMART Green Program is now fully committed, however we continue to accept project applications on behalf of the future GreenON program. All project applications submitted to SMART Green will be reviewed, and recommended applications will be held for transition to the GreenON program when it launches (date tbd). Please note however that the assessment application intake has been closed.

Without a doubt, SMART Green is a popular program given the volume of applications we have received to date. At this time, we would like to inform you that SMART Green has limited funding available remaining and we expect to be fully committed very soon. We are finalizing the remaining approvals and will notify all successful applicants on or before April 30, 2018. If your application is currently in review, we thank you for your patience during this process.
That being said, we are aware that the Ontario Government has created the GreenON Agency, who is now responsible for managing the funds received through the Cap & Trade revenues. GreenON is currently developing a program in support of Small and Medium businesses and will be launching a program for small and medium enterprises. It has always been the intention that SMART Green would be the interim delivery agent until GreenON had established a program. The program details are still being finalized but participants will be able to access rebates and advice for their businesses - all via a personalized concierge. The new ‘SME Concierge program’ is intended to provide continued support, similar to the SMART Green program, to small and medium sized manufacturers (among other eligible entities) in helping them reduce their GHGs and become more energy efficient.
Effective April 12, 2018, and until such time as the GreenON program has been launched and is able to accept applications directly, the SMART Green program is happy to announce that we will continue to accept applications on behalf of GreenON as an interim solution. These new applications, as well as any applications which we are unable to fund due to the full commitment of SMART Green will be reviewed and evaluated as per the same SMART Green criteria. Non-qualifying applications will be declined, while qualifying projects will be held for recommended approval to GreenON. When the new program is launched, CME will work with GreenON to provide a seamless transition/integration of all pending applications from SMART Green to the new GreenON program. The new program will then assume all applications for final funding decisions.
Please rest assured that this new program will not affect any of the assessments and projects that have already been approved and are in progress under the SMART Green Program, with a signed contribution agreement with CME; those approved applications will remain with SMART Green until their completion as per the terms of their original funding agreement. Applicants who have completed an assessment may opt to submit their project application to SMART Green or opt to wait for the new GreenON program to launch.
